Experience Sharing on Writing a Successful RGC Research Grant Proposal

Since 2014, the Research Grant Council (RGC) has launched the Competitive Research Funding Schemes, including three funding schemes, namely the Institutional Development Scheme (IDS), the Inter-Institutional Development Scheme (IIDS) and the Faculty Development Scheme (FDS), to develop the research capacity of both the institutions and that of the faculty members, and to provide funding for research activities performed in the local self-financing degree sector.

To facilitate staff’s application, the Research Committee (RC) and the Staff Development Committee (SDC) jointly organized an experience sharing session entitle “Experience Sharing on Writing a Successful RGC Research Grant Proposal” on 29 November 2018.

In the sharing seminar, Professor Y.V. Hui, Vice-President (Academic & Research), introduced the scheme details and submission timeline.  Dr Lucille Ngan, Assistant Professor of Department of Social Science and Dr Eugene Wong, Assistant Professor of Department of Supply Chain and Information Management, the awardees of FDS and IIDS Proposals, were invited to share their experience and tips with participants.  Professor Man-Lai Tang, Associate Dean of School of Decision Sciences, a member of the RGC Assessment Panel, was also invited to share the assessment process and criteria with participants.

The seminar was well attended with about 30 staff members from different departments and schools.  Participants found the sharing session content informative and useful.
