Abstract:

When one mentions In-N-Out, he or she might be referring to the well-known burger chain brand. A burger has different layers of ingredients, which is similar to the academic journeys for students, which contain different stages with various challenges. Applying this logic and imagine teachers were the chefs, what could they do to help their students to come up with a tasty burger?

Throughout their academic journeys, students may feel stressed, frustrated or get lost due to the different challenges they encounter. As teachers, our mission is to educate our students and accompany them with passion and love both inside and outside the classroom to effectively and innovatively guide them towards the goal of becoming well-informed and responsible citizens.

In this seminar, Dr George Ho from the Department of Supply Chain and Information Management and Dr Lawrence Lei from the Department of Accountancy will demonstrate the activities that are carried out inside and outside the classroom to support and groom their students becoming well-informed and responsible citizens (The so-called In-N-Out Strategy). Dr George Ho will discuss his teaching theory: Interest-based learning and innovative-driven teaching by illustrating how to apply innovative technologies to arouse students’ interests and encourage them to fully engage in class to maximise the learning outcome. Then, Dr Lawrence Lei will discuss his teaching theory: The power of love by demonstrating how he has utilised his job capacity to train and groom his students outside the classroom with love and support.

All academic staff are welcome to join.
