Entering its 11th year, the Competition remains dedicated to fostering a spirit of innovation among our students. The HSUHK Innovation Project Competition 2026, organised by the Teaching and Learning Enhancement Section of the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) concluded successfully on 12 March 2026, with the Pitching Competition and Awards Presentation Ceremony.
The theme for 2026, Cultural Challenge in Hong Kong, HSUHK students were invited to harness their creativity and develop innovative solutions that could bridge generational divides, revitalise intangible cultural practices, and advocate for the preservation of our important heritage sites.
Leading up to the finale, the “Cultural Challenge in Hong Kong” workshop series offered participants an engaging learning experience. Attendees first examined cultural challenges through interactive discussions and activities through a taster workshop. A visit to the CITY IN TIME Gallery 360 allowed students to explore Hong Kong’s history using augmented reality. The “Pitching” workshops focused on observation and stakeholder needs, introducing key design thinking principles. Following this, participants learned effective pitching techniques to captivate audiences. The series concluded with a spotlight on community initiatives and insights from students who interned in Japan. Overall, the workshops fostered a spirit of innovation and cultural engagement among participants.
As the Competition reached its final stages, consultation sessions conducted by Dr Korix Wong and Dr Belle Ling, Lecturers from the Department of English, provided tailored language advice to better equip them with the essential skills for pitching prior the finale.
The grand finale on 12 March marked the day where seven finalist teams presented the results of their efforts to a panel of respected judges, including (presented in alphabetical order by surname): Dr Chan Chi-kit (Director of Institute for Youth Sustainability Leadership), our head judge Dr Ben Cheng (Director of Centre for Teaching and Learning), Dr Holly Chung (Associate Director of Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship), Ms Amy Lam (Deputy General Manager of Corporate Communications, Henderson Land), and Dr Patrick Mok (Assistant Professor, Department of Art and Design). We also cordially invited Mr Korix Wong and Dr Belle Ling to witness the fruits of their consultation.
Since 2024, winners were presented with the Martin Ka Shing Lee Innovation Awards. Thanks to the staunch support of Dr Martin Lee Ka-shing, GBS, JP, Chairman of Henderson Land Group, in promoting innovation, technology, and youth development.
As the Competition concluded, the winners proudly held their cheques which acknowledged their efforts in contributing to the dialogue on cultural innovation. A round of applause was given to all participants who showcased exceptional talent and creativity, recognising their hard work and valuable contributions to the Competition.
