The BEAM (Bot-Enhanced Assessment for Meta Learning) project, led by the Common Core Curriculum Office (CCCO) with support from the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) Digital Learning Section, has once again been shortlisted for the QS Reimagine Education Awards, marking its second consecutive year of recognition in the Learning Assessment category.
Led by Dr Muk Yan Wong, Director of Common Core Curriculum, the project team includes Dr Joyce Chan, Ms Esther Chok, Mr Wilson Kung, and Mr Kelvin Wan. The continued recognition builds on BEAM’s shortlisting in the 2025 QS Reimagine Education Awards, highlighting the project’s sustained development and contribution to innovative assessment practices.
The Digital Learning Section contributes to BEAM through pedagogical design and the integration of Generative AI into assessment practices. Mr Kelvin Wan, Digital Learning Specialist, supports the project in areas including AI-enhanced assessment design, student-centred learning strategies, and the responsible use of AI for formative and continuous feedback.
Piloted in a General Education module, BEAM reimagines assessment as a student-centred and iterative learning process. Students co-create assessment rubrics, engage with customised AI chatbots for real-time feedback, and refine their work through continuous improvement. The approach aims to strengthen meta-learning, learner agency, and assessment literacy, while offering potential for adaptation across disciplines.
The second consecutive shortlisting reflects the sustained collaboration between CCCO and CTL in developing and refining BEAM, and reinforces HSUHK’s commitment to innovative, student-centred and responsible uses of Generative AI in teaching and assessment.
