Event Highlights
The Virtual Reality Centre (VRC) hosted Virtual Reality Week 2023, from 18 to 22 September 2023, attracting over 70 students and staff members from the University, who had the opportunity to immerse into the world of virtual reality and Metaverse through three different themes: Arts and Heritage Theme, Aviation and Maritime Logistics Theme, and Journalism and Finance Theme.
The event comprised a total of 11 sessions, each showcasing VRC’s latest developments in virtual reality scenes and applications across a wide range of disciplines.
The Arts and Heritage theme reconstructed the historical landmark of Tiger Balm Garden (Aw Boon Haw Gardens) and the imaginary world of Van Gogh. The Logistics theme provided participants with a hands-on experience of daily operations inside a cargo warehouse. The Journalism and Finance theme allowed participants to play as different roles in a live news reporting scenario in an earthquake disaster zone. It also visualised financial data such as the Hang Seng Index in an immersive way.
