Exploring the Impact of Generative AI: Insights from CTL and LIB at the College Assembly

Event Highlights

The E-Learning Section of CTL received a special invitation from the College Assembly Advisory Committee to contribute to the event held on 21 March 2024. This event, centered around the theme “Generative AI – Rethinking Human Value in Career,” aimed to explore the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on professional trajectories, covering ethical and responsible use of AI. Mr Kelvin Wan, Senior Instructional Designer, representing CTL’s E-Learning Section, delivered a thought-provoking presentation with Mr Michael Cheng, the University Librarian, emphasizing the evolving relationship between GAI and human value in career paths. Their insights, coupled with interactive elements like the Kahoot! game, engaged attendees and stimulated meaningful discussions.  Their discussion covered some valuable perspectives on the implications of AI in daily life and work. The assembly attracted over 500 students, who participated both in-person and remotely via hybrid attendance. This widespread engagement underscored the event’s relevance and resonance among the student body, reflecting the commitment of CTL and LIB to fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and preparing individuals for the challenges of the future workforce.
