Event Highlights
“I feel honoured to serve athletes from across the nation and witness firsthand the scale of this remarkable event. ”
HSUHK students actively translated classroom knowledge into practice by supporting triathlon athletes at the prestigious 15th National Games. Over 30 students from this year’s Service-Learning programme, assisted athletes from 18 provinces nationwide.
This real-world engagement builds on rich academic preparation. Students engaged in insightful class discussions with Ms. Chow Chiu Nam, President of the Triathlon Association of Hong Kong China, which deepened their understanding of large-scale event management. Additionally, an on-site briefing equipped students with essential operational skills, ensuring they were well-prepared to contribute effectively during the Games.
The module offers a comprehensive PE curriculum covering strategic sports event planning. Through proposing, planning, and evaluating actual sports events with local and international dimensions, students gain a practical grasp of the entire event lifecycle.
On-site, students provided vital administrative support—from managing hotel check-ins to coordinating athlete transportation—enabling competitors to focus fully on their performance. Participant Lilian Lau reflected, “I feel honoured to serve athletes from across the nation and witness firsthand the scale of this remarkable event. This experience has truly deepened my appreciation for teamwork and professional event delivery.”
Since 2019, the Service-Learning Section, Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL), has empowered students to apply academic skills in real-world community settings, strengthening industry partnerships and fostering meaningful societal impact.
