Event Highlights
The Centre for Teaching and Learning cordially invited Professor Simon Ho, President of HSUHK to serve as the guest speaker for the sixth “My Learning Story” on 9 October 2025. During his talk, President Ho shared insights from his childhood, academic journey, and life wisdom, highlighting the importance of values in his personal growth.
In recalling his childhood, President Ho shared amusing stories and experiences from his early school days. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the inspiring teachers who guided him, noting how their encouragement and feedback became his guiding principles and a shining source of motivation throughout his life.
Reflecting on the challenges he faced in personal development and his professional career, President Ho emphasised that “Where there is a will, there is a way”. He encouraged everyone to keep a positive and proactive attitude even when faced with challenges in any situation.
In closing, President Ho encouraged everyone to explore their core values. He quoted the philosopher Albert Einstein, saying, “Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value”. He expressed his hope that everyone would discover their self-worth and confidently carve out their own paths. The sharing talk was well attended by nearly 350 students and staff members, including those participating in the live broadcast.
As a token of appreciation, Dr Ben Cheng, Director of the Centre, presented two special gift sets to President Ho. The first was a unique silk tie gift set in green, featuring a caricature of President Ho, wrapped in a gift box showcasing the HSUHK campus, designed by Mr Michael Fung, an alumnus of the Department of Art and Design. The second gift was an Herbal Tea Guardian Game, created by a group of Year 4 students from the BA-CCI Programme in the Department of Art and Design.
