Play to Learn, Game to Innovate workshop series: Gamifying Collaborative GenAI in Experiential Learning Framework for Prosocial Innovation

The Centre for Teaching and Learning (Digital Learning Section) hosted the last session of the “Play to Learn, Game to Innovate with GenAI” workshop series, “Gamifying Collaborative GenAI in Experiential Learning Framework for Prosocial Innovation,” led by Dr Fridolin Ting from the Department of Mathematics and Information Technology, The Education University of Hong Kong on 8 Jan 2026.

The session introduced YoChatGPT!, a free-to-use collaborative GenAI platform, and demonstrated how AI can move beyond one-to-one interactions to support multiplayer dialogue, inquiry-based quests, and shared AI feedback. Through live demonstrations and examples across STEM, humanities, and service-learning contexts, participants explored how collaborative GenAI can foster teamwork, critical thinking, and ethical AI use.

The workshop sparked rich discussion on the importance of design thinking in the AI era, highlighting that effective GenAI integration is less about tools and more about thoughtful learning design and human-centred pedagogy.

This session provided a meaningful conclusion to the Play to Learn, Game to Innovate with GenAI workshop series, reinforcing the role of collaborative, responsible GenAI in future-ready teaching and learning.
