STEAM in Action: Workshop on VR-enhanced Teaching of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Co-organised by the Common Core Curriculum Office (CCCO) and the Graduate School (GS), a workshop titled “STEAM in Action: Workshop on VR-enhanced Teaching of Traditional Chinese Medicine” was held on 5 March 2026. The workshop was delivered by Professor Albert Leung, Chinese medicine practitioner and Professor of Clinical Practice, School of Graduate Studies, Lingnan University, and was moderated by Ir Dr Eugene Wong, Director of VRC.

The workshop demonstrated the basics of Chinese Medicine and how advanced technology like VR had been integrated with innovative approaches to support teaching and learning in TCM. The session also included a VR demonstration delivered by Mr Matt Chan, Senior Systems Engineer, VRC, followed by an immersive VR tour in which participants experienced immersive simulation of herbal selection, processing and decoction. A total of 41 staff and students participated in the workshop. The activity provided participants with practical insights into how immersive technology could enhance teaching and learning in TCM education.
