Event Highlights
“恒學集”, or “My Learning Story”, is a new initiative that blends “HSUHK”, “HSU-ers”, “continuous”, “learning” and “series” into a bunch of Learning Stories. HSU-ers including staff (academic or administrative) and alumni are invited as guest speakers to give inspirations for what, why, where, when, from whom, for how long… and how to learn. It is presented as a series of talks for students, sometimes with related events in other formats.
In the first installment of the talk series on 15 April 2021 (Thursday), Dr Ben Cheng, Director of the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL), interviewed Professor Scarlet Tso, Associate Vice-President (Communications and Public Affairs) and Dean of the School of Communication, about “pursuing our dreams and having no regrets for our youth”. Professor Tso told a lot of stories about the challenges she met during her studies and career. The audience was moved by her life story of success without a head start, and got her take-home message: “If you fall, get back up.”
CTL was grateful for Professor Tso’s generous offer of 5 signed copies of the essay collection “萬紫千虹” authored by her. They were presented to the 5 winners of a game during the talk.
The talk was well-attended by 150 students and staff, on-site and online. The audience enjoyed the inspiring content and the interesting interaction of the guest speaker and the host.
More talks of the series will follow in the Academic Year 2021/22.
