The University has released the updated Guidelines for Using Generative Artificial Intelligence in Teaching and Learning (2026/27) to support the responsible and effective use of Generative AI across teaching and learning at HSUHK.
First introduced in 2023, the Guidelines have been updated to reflect the rapidly evolving Generative AI landscape and the University’s expanding AI ecosystem. The latest revision was undertaken by the HSUHK Generative AI Working Group, with contributions from the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL), Information Technology Services Centre (ITSC), Library, Student Affairs Office (SAO), and other relevant units.
Key updates for 2026/27 include expanded access to AI models and services through HSUHK AI Chat, clearer guidance on the educational use and limitations of AI detection tools, strengthened reminders on data privacy, enhanced support for students with special educational needs, and updated Library guidance on the responsible use and acknowledgement of AI-generated content.
The revised Guidelines also reinforce an important principle: expectations regarding AI use may vary across modules and assessment tasks. Teachers are encouraged to communicate these expectations clearly, while students should clarify requirements with their teachers and appropriately acknowledge their use of AI.
As part of the University’s broader AI Hub@HSU initiative, CTL will continue to work with colleagues across the University to support the thoughtful integration of Generative AI into teaching, learning and assessment.
