The Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL), in collaboration with the Information Technology Services Centre (ITSC) and the Library, successfully hosted an insightful workshop on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at M803, bringing together faculty members to explore the latest features of Turnitin and its integration into academic practice.
With over 20 participants in attendance, the workshop provided valuable guidance on leveraging Turnitin to uphold academic integrity in the era of Generative AI.

Promoting Academic Integrity – Jenny Chan (Library)
Jenny shared strategies to foster a culture of academic integrity, explaining how Turnitin’s originality reports can be used as educational tools to help students understand proper citation and plagiarism prevention.
AI Detection in Turnitin – Kelvin Wan (CTL)
Kelvin introduced Turnitin’s AI detection capabilities, demonstrating how instructors can navigate AI-related challenges, detect potential misuse, and encourage responsible AI use in student submissions.
Turnitin in Practice – Lavender Choi (ITSC)
Lavender led a hands-on demonstration on setting up Turnitin assignments in Moodle, interpreting similarity reports, and utilizing key features to enhance the assessment process.
The interactive session allowed attendees to engage in discussions, ask questions, and gain practical insights into integrating Turnitin effectively into their teaching. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, where faculty members exchanged best practices and shared experiences.
