Event Highlights
There is a thin line only, between a teacher and an actor. Thanks to Mr German CHEUNG, a seasoned drama director, actor and acting coach, our colleagues grasped an even firmer understanding, than with what they were already equipped, of how to shine on our own stage, inside or outside a classroom.
On 30 September 2021 (Thursday), the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) was honoured to have German to spend a nice afternoon with 16 HSUHK colleagues, inspiring us with positioning and preparing ourselves, teaching-wise and even mentally, the moment we step into our classroom. Through simple and engaging games, this interactive workshop reminded us of the importance of enjoying ourselves as a teacher in class, and a collaborator creating wisdom together with our students. German also enlightened us with his vast experiences in coaching professional actors and sharing some practical good tips on engaging both active and passive members with our participants. The workshop ended with a room of keen learners shooting intelligent questions and asking for more workshops on vocal training and body language.
Mr German CHEUNG, an experienced drama director, actor, and acting coach, was introduced by Dr Holly CHUNG, the Associate Director, Teaching and Learning Enhancement Section, Centre for Teaching and Learning.

“Hold the crowd”, exemplified by the seasoned acting coach, Mr German CHEUNG.
Talk the walk; walk the talk – Our participants are experiencing performing to themselves (which shall take even more skills!)
Paying attention to tiny little details in the room, our workshop participants learned to speak up their mind, literally, to themselves, to the acting coach, and to an imaginary audience.
Our participants at the workshop are being active and vocal, during and even after the workshop.
