Service-Learning Excellence Awards 2025 celebrate impactful community engagement

The Service-Learning Section at the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) hosted the Service-Learning Excellence Awards Ceremony cum Student Forum 2025 on 5 June 2025, to bring the Service-Learning Projects in 2024-25 to a celebratory close by commemorating the diverse projects of students and teachers who collaborated with community partners throughout the year.

Professor Jeanne Fu, Vice-President (Learning and Student Experience), and Dr Ben Cheng, Director of the Centre for Teaching and Learning officiated at the Ceremony and presented certificates to the award-winning teachers and students. This year, 14 dedicated service-learning module instructors were honoured for their contributions. 60 students from 19 teams with outstanding project performance were awarded the Service-Learning Excellence Award, while 12 Service-learning ambassadors were presented with certificates of appreciation.

During the forum sessions, Dr Victor Chan, Associate Director (Service-Learning) of the CTL; Dr Janice Wong, Lecturer from School of Communication; and Mr Fun Ho, Lecturer from Physical Education Section of the Student Affairs Office, shared their stories of transformative service-learning experiences.

Mr Roy Ying, Senior Lecturer from Department of Marketing, and student Dorothy Choi, shared an innovative idea centered on establishing a unique halal food festival that celebrates cultural diversity. Student awardees also shared their impactful service-learning projects and achievements, and expressed the hope that such projects continue to make a meaningful difference in the larger community.
