Seminar on Common Core Curriculum

With the aim to facilitate colleagues to have a better knowledge about common core curriculum and its future development at HSUHK, the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL), Common Core Curriculum Committee (CCCC) and Staff Development Committee (SDC) jointly organized a seminar about common core curriculum on 28 February 2019.  Dr Collin Wong, Chairlady of Common Core Curriculum Committee and Dr Muk-yan Wong, Associate Director (Common Core Curriculum Section) of Centre for Teaching and Learning were invited as speakers to deliver talks on the topics “香港大專院校通識教育概覧” and “通識教育在恒大 – 現況與展望”.

In the seminar, Dr Collin Wong talked about the aims/objectives of General Education (GE) and summarized the curriculum structures and characteristics of different local tertiary institutions, to let the participants get a brief idea of GE development in Hong Kong.  Followed the introduction of GE, Dr Muk-yan Wong shared his views on General Education, talked about the history and development of common core curriculum at HSUHK, and expressed his personal views on the strengths and weaknesses of current HSUHK’s CCC and some suggestions for future development.

The seminar was informative and enlightening.  Participants were keen to raise questions and share their views during the Q & A session.
